You’ll need to include a number of documents as evidence of your eligibility for citizenship. These documents must be certified to prove their authenticity.

3. Submission
We will review your application to ensure you have met the eligibility criteria and included all the required documents to avoid any delays in processing. Then your application is ready for submission.
4. Decision
The Citizenship Division will notify you by post to advise if the Minister for Justice has approved your application for Citizenship.

What’s next if the application for citizenship is approved?

The letter from the Citizenship Division will give you details on what steps to take next. This will include making a payment of 950 euros to receive an invitation to the citizenship ceremony.

The citizenship ceremony is a very exciting event where new citizens gather to pledge an oath of fidelity to the State, receive their citizenship certificate and celebrate their Irish nationality.

From the date of the citizenship ceremony, you will be an Irish citizen.

After the ceremony, you should consider applying for your Irish passport as soon as possible, particularly if you are planning to travel.
