Initial Contact from Our Client Care Team

Every enquiry is first received by our Client Care Team. In most situations, they will contact you to have a short discussion. This allows us to gain a clearer understanding of your circumstances and identify what type of legal assistance may be required. This initial step helps ensure your enquiry is handled efficiently and directed to the right people from the outset.

1

Understanding Your Situation

During this stage, we consider:

– The details of your enquiry

– The area of law involved

– How best we may be able to assist

This assessment allows us to determine the most suitable way forward and avoids unnecessary steps or delays.

2

Guidance on the Next Stage

Once we have a clearer picture, your Client Care Advisor will outline the available options.
Depending on your situation, this may include:

– Arranging a consultation with one of our legal team or specialists

– Explaining whether a consultation is required at all

– Confirming whether any consultation would be free or paid, and outlining any associated costs in advance

You’ll be given clear information so you can decide how you would like to proceed.

3

Moving Forward with Us

If you choose to proceed and instruct us as your solicitor, we’ll guide you through the formal steps required to get started.
This includes:

– Verifying identification and proof of address

– Completing the necessary documentation

– Arranging any retainer or payment, where applicable

Once these steps are complete, we can begin acting on your behalf.

4

Clear Communication at Every Stage

From first contact onwards, our focus is on clarity, transparency, and practical guidance. We’re here to ensure you understand the process and feel supported throughout.

If you’re unsure whether we can assist, the best first step is simply to get in touch.

Quick Answers Before You Get in Touch

1. Do I need to pay for the first consultation?

In some cases, your first consultation may be free, while in others it may be a paid consultation. This depends on the nature and complexity of your matter.
Your Client Care Advisor will explain this clearly in advance, including whether any costs apply, so you can decide how you wish to proceed.

2. What details should I provide when contacting you?

To allow us to contact you in the most appropriate way, we ask that you provide:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your email address

You’re also welcome to include a brief outline of your situation, but don’t worry if you’re unsure what to say — we can gather the relevant details when we speak with you.

3. How quickly will you respond?

We always aim to respond as quickly as possible, often by email in the first instance.
Even during peak times, we aim to get back to all enquiries within 2 business days, and often sooner.

4. Will I speak directly with a solicitor?

Not necessarily at the outset.
To ensure we provide the most efficient and appropriate service, your enquiry will first be handled by our Client Care Team. They are experienced in understanding legal enquiries and gathering the key information needed.
This helps us determine:

  • Whether we can assist
  • Which area of law your matter relates to
  • Whether speaking with a solicitor is required at that stage

If a solicitor’s input is needed, your Client Care Advisor will arrange this and explain the next steps.

5. What happens after I contact you?

Once we receive your enquiry:

  1. Our Client Care Team reviews your details
  2. In most cases, they will need to speak with you to better understand your situation
  3. Based on this conversation, they will assess whether our legal teams can assist and what the most appropriate next step is

This process helps ensure your matter is directed correctly from the outset.

6. What are the possible next steps after that?

Depending on your circumstances, one of the following may happen:

  • You may be offered a consultation with one of our specialists or legal team
    • Your Client Care Advisor will explain whether this consultation is free or paid
    • Any costs involved will be outlined in advance
  • You may not require a consultation and may decide to instruct us as your solicitor straight away

Your Client Care Advisor will guide you through whichever option applies to your situation.

7. What does it mean to “instruct you as my solicitor”?

Instructing us means you formally ask us to act on your behalf and become your solicitor.
To do this, there are a few steps we are required to complete by law:

  • We’ll need valid identification and proof of address
  • You’ll be asked to sign a contract confirming our appointment
  • If your case requires a retainer, we’ll explain the amount and arrange payment with you

Once these steps are completed, we can begin working on your legal matter.

8. Is my enquiry confidential?

Yes. All enquiries are treated in strict confidence from your first point of contact with us.
