With a strong background in legal technology, one of Neil’s earliest achievements was implementing network scanning and document management in his firm even before case management systems were available in the Irish market.
This experience has given him a deep understanding of systemizing repetitive tasks and applying technological solutions to office environments. His innovative and forward-thinking nature is just one reason why at Gibson & Associates, we are delighted to have Neil on board as an Independent Consultant Solicitor.
In 2024, Neil Butler was recognised by the Solicitors Growth Network – a professional community of some 400 fellow Solicitors – for his help and support of colleagues, being presented with the Award for Solicitor Colleague of the Year 2024.
His current role, in addition to continuing to serve his legal clients, involves leading the Independent Consultant Solicitor programme at Gibson and Associates LLP, where he uses his legal knowledge, practice management experience, and technology skills to promote positive changes in how legal services are delivered.
With over 40 years of practice experience, I take pride in being able to support and assist the team and my professional colleagues at Gibson & Associates LLP. Bringing different thought processes, as well as both professional and life experiences can give perspective on practice issues and client experiences. On a personal note, I have released time that I can now apply to other interests, some social and others business -related. I use the phrase work-life harmony to describe it.
Working within a larger entity is a mindset and cultural shift when one has worked for oneself for so long. To be able to have independence in working with clients and flexible working hours whilst also having the support from Gibson & Associates LLP with established systems and processes as well as access to industry tools. The Independent Consultant Solicitor programme allows me the best of both worlds – the protection and support of a larger group and yet the independence of effectively running my own business as a subset of Gibson & Associates LLP.
