How to Meet the Criteria for Irish Citizenship
Meeting the criteria for Irish citizenship involves several requirements, which can feel daunting if you’re applying for the first time. Our experienced and approachable immigration team is here to assist you with all the information you need and to guide you through the process. Sometimes, individual circumstances can complicate the application, and you may have questions about how to meet specific criteria. This is where our expertise comes in—we’re here to help you navigate the complexities and ensure you’re in the best possible position for your citizenship application. When you choose to work with us, we will follow this process:
1 Introductory Call
You’ll meet with our expert team, typically on a Zoom call online, to talk about your citizenship application and what’s involved.
2. Documents
You’ll need to include a number of documents as evidence of your eligibility for citizenship. These documents must be certified to prove their authenticity.
3. Submission
We will review your application to ensure you have met the eligibility criteria and included all the required documents to avoid any delays in processing. Then your application is ready for submission.
4. Citizenship Cermony
At the ceremony, you will pledge your loyalty to Ireland and receive your citizenship certificate.
Irish Citizenship Applications: Don't have Irish parents or grandparents... but still want Irish Citizenship?
Naturalisation is an alternative route to Irish citizenship for those who do not have an Irish parent or grandparent. Unlike citizenship by descent or Foreign Birth Registration, which is based on ancestry, naturalisation requires residency in Ireland for a specific period, good character, and intent to remain in the country. It is a discretionary process granted by the Minister for Justice rather than an automatic entitlement.
Do I need to pay a fee?
This payment is required to receive your official invitation to the citizenship ceremony.
When does my Irish citizenship start?
What is the citizenship ceremony?
The ceremony is a formal event where you’ll:
– Take an oath of fidelity to the Irish State
– Receive your Certificate of Naturalisation
– Officially become an Irish citizen
It’s also a chance to celebrate this important milestone with other new citizens.
Can I apply for an Irish passport?
If you’re planning to travel, it’s best to apply as soon as possible.
