What is Litigation?
Litigation is the process of taking a dispute to a court of law. In some cases, parties cannot agree between themselves about the fair and proper outcome of a dispute. If that is the case, a litigation solicitor will present your case to a court for its judgment.
The role of a Litigation Solicitor
Litigation solicitors are essentially lawyers. They deal with clients, take instructions from them, do necessary background work on cases, give preliminary advice to clients, obtain expert opinions, and instruct barristers if required. Solicitors prepare cases for trial; they may represent a client in court but will usually instruct a barrister to represent them in higher courts by sending the barrister a brief containing all the relevant information and documentation to assist them in presenting their client’s case.
