Areas of Specialism / Interest
During the course of estate administration, it often becomes apparent that beneficiaries may have liability to inheritance tax, and the estate itself may also have liability to Capital Gains Tax. I am passionate about providing the best possible advice to my clients, and have worked closely with clients’ accountants or tax advisers to ensure the most tax-efficient course is taken.
I have also dealt with a number of cases in which the Department of Social Welfare had a claim against estate assets, and I have successfully handled appeals in these matters, resulting in significant savings for the estate and its beneficiaries.

Why I Chose to Work in Law
I have always felt strongly about access to justice, human rights and about doing work that is honest, reliable and trustworthy. Through my experience with organisations such as the Department of Justice and FLAC, I saw first-hand how legal information and support can make a real difference to people’s lives. That experience stayed with me and shaped the path I wanted to take.
Over time, I became especially drawn to private client work because it allows me to put my problem-solving skills to practical use while helping individuals and families directly during important, and often sensitive stages of life. What continues to motivate me is that combination of meaningful legal work, personal connection, and being able to provide solutions to people as they navigate difficult circumstances.
