Step 1 – Meet to discuss your Situation
We’ll meet with you and discuss the steps involved in administering an estate. We’ll also review the Will. If no Will exists, we’ll discuss the rights and obligations under the Succession Act.
Step 2 – Prepare the Inland Revenue Affidavit
Once the death certificate has been obtained, we’ll prepare the Inland Revenue Affidavit, which sets outs the deceased’s assets and liabilities and lists the beneficiaries.
Step 3 – Lodge Papers for the Grant in the Probate Office or District Probate Registry
When all the documents have been signed, we’ll lodge them with either the Central Probate Office in Dublin or the local District Probate Registry. We’ll deal with any queries to make sure the Grant issues on time.
Step 4 – Organise the Collection of Assets
Once the Grant issues, we’ll help you collect the assets of the Estate. For example, any monies held in bank accounts, pension payments etc. We’ll also obtain the Title Documents for any property that was owned by the deceased.
Step 5 – Distribution of Assets and Payment of Liabilities
We’ll make sure the debts of the estate and any bequests under a Will are paid. The beneficiaries are then announced and paid, and any land and/or buildings are transferred to the relevant beneficiaries.
Step 5 – Prepare the Accounts and Costs
Finally, we’ll prepare the Estate accounts to show how the assets and liabilities of the deceased were dealt with.
